About the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital

Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital is a centre of excellence in the heart of Cape Town, providing high technology in all medical and surgical disciplines with a strong focus on cardiology, cardiac surgery and heart transplantations.

Areas of specialization include the care of neo-natal and congenital heart abnormalities and the provision of extra corporeal membrane oxygenation. The accident and emergenyc unit is staffed by a highly trained team of specialists and nursing staff to cope with all emergencies.

There are eleven theatres, providing for all disciplines of surgery. The maternity and neo-natal care facilities are of the highest standard. The hospital also features a skin laser centre and a renal dialysis unit.
