Prominent Ears (Otoplasty)

Procedure: Set back prominent ears by scoring the ear cartilage and creating natural folds in the cartilage of the ear. The ear is then wrapped up and allowed to heal and 'set' in a more aesthetically pleasing position.
Duration of procedure: 60 - 90 minutes.
Anaesthesia: Local with sedation or general.
In/Out Patient: Day case
Post-operative: Temporary bruising, swelling or numbness of skin. Usually resolves within 1 month.
Recovery: Head bandage worn for one week. Sweat band to be worn for 3 weeks thereafter at night only.
Results: Permanent, less prominent positioning of the ears
